Date and time

Your iPhone’s time and date really matters when it comes to downloading WhatsApp and other apps. An incorrect date and time could prevent your from downloading WhatsApp. Check your device’s time and date.

If you change the Apple ID you’re using, apps tied to the old ID can’t update. Sign in to other Apple IDs you’ve used, following the instructions above.
