WhatsApp rolling out exciting features in coming weeks

WhatsApp’s 2 billion fans have exciting weeks ahead of them. The world’s most popular app is going to get 3 features in the coming weeks ahead, the company has confirmed.

On their own blog, WhatsApp said it will introduce animated stickers,QR codes,Dark mode for WhatsApp web and status for KaiOS. Now lets take a look each of these features.

Animated stickers

Static stickers are not enough to express oneself so WhatsApp is now giving you animated stickers. As the name suggest, animated stickers are stickers that move or give a certain action that expresses a certain emotion.

Stickers are one of the fastest growing ways people communicate on WhatsApp, with billions sent every day. We are rolling out new animated sticker packs that are even more fun and expressive.

QR codes

WhatsApp is going to make it smooth and sexy to add a new contact. Instead of typing a number, WhatsApp will avail a QR code and scanner feature that allow you to scan a QR code to add a new contact.

We are making it easier than ever to add a new contact. Soon when you meet someone new, you will be able to scan their QR code to add them to your contacts. No more tapping in their digits one at a time.

Dark mode for WhatsApp Web and Desktop

Dark has been available for the mobile version of WhatsApp but WhatsApp will how roll it out also to those users who like WhatsApp Web.

The incredibly popular Dark Mode theme now extends to your computer.

KaiOS status

Currently WhatsApp Status is available for Android and iOS users only, thus sidelining one of the most growing Operating System,KaiOs. But that’s about to change.

KaiOS users can now enjoy the popular feature that lets you share updates that disappear after 24 hours.

These features are rolling out to users over the next few weeks, in the latest versions of WhatsApp.

Group video calls

Well, thus is not actually a feature but an improvement on the existing video group calling feature. WhatsApp says it will allow users to decide who to view on a full screen during an ongoing group video call.

And also, it will ass a group video calling icon which users in groups of 8 members and below can tap to initiate a video group call.

With now up to 8 people on a video call, we’ve made it easier to focus on whoever you want by letting you press and hold to maximize a participant’s video to full screen. We also added a video icon in group chats of 8 or less, so you can easily start a group video call with 1-tap.

That is all what WhatsApp will be cooking for you in the coming weeks. Personally, I can’t wait to start using animated stickers and QR codes to add new contacts. Are you excited as well? Tell us in the comment section below.
